Life certificate

These local authorities validate life certificates (for Belgians and non-Belgians) :

The Embassy of Belgium is only authorized to sign life certificates for Belgian citizens.
Honorary consulates are not authorized to validate life certificates.

Documents to submit for validation by the Belgian Embassy in Stockholm (for Belgian citizens)

  1. The life certificate form of the Belgian pension service, duly completed 
  2. A copy of your valid Belgian passport or identity card
  3. Download a personbevis 'Utdrag om folbokföringsuppgifter' on Skatteverket (max 1 week old)
  4. Note mentioning your phone number and e-mail address

Choose one of the following options to receive the validated life certificate: 

  • By e-mail: the Embassy sends the validated life certificate by e-mail. Clearly mention your e-mail address in your request.
  • By registered post (REK): 
    • Go to the Postnord website
    • Select REK, max weight 50 g and fill out the following:              
    • Sender:
    •  Receiver:
      • Your name, your address, your e-mail or phone number. 
    • The Embassy will receive a shipping label to send the document.
