How to validate a life certificate.

These local authorities validate life certificates (for Belgians and non-Belgians) :

  • Sweden: Skatteverket/Försäkringskassan: click here to find a service office in your area
  • Latvia: Department of civil registries at your municipality

Bring a valid ID or passport.

 

The Embassy of Belgium is only authorized to sign life certificates for Belgian citizens.
Honorary consulates are not authorized to validate life certificates.

Documents to submit for validation by the Belgian Embassy in Stockholm

  1. The life certificate form of the pension service, duly completed 
  2. A copy of your valid Belgian passport or valid Belgian identity card
  3. A recent personbevis from Skatteverket (utdrag om folbokföringsuppgifter) max 1 week old
  4. Note mentioning your phone number and e-mail address

Choose one of the following options to receive the validated life certificate: 

  • By e-mail: the Embassy sends the validated life certificate by e-mail. Clearly mention your e-mail address in your request.
  • Via PostNord SkickaDirekt (in Sweden, to Latvia or abroad)
    Click on portal.postnord.com/skickadirekt
    Select "REK", "max weight 50 g" and fill out the following:              

    Sender:
     Name: Embassy of Belgium
     Address: Box 12195
     Postcode: 102 25 Stockholm
     E-mail: stockholm@diplobel.fed.be
     Receiver:
     Your name, your address, your e-mail address and phone number. 
     The Embassy will receive a shipping label to send the document.                              

  • Add a stamped, self-addressed envelope, for a total value of 115 SEK for "REK" (registered mail).
    (PostNord SkickaDirekt is a cheaper option)
