General information regarding entry to Belgium and visas can be found on the website of the Belgian Immigration Office. Please note that the Embassy of Belgium in Stockholm does not issue visas.
For residents of Sweden
The Embassy of Belgium in Helsinki handles visa applications for residents in Sweden. You need a valid residence permit in Sweden to apply for a visa. If your residence permit has run out, you first need to apply for an extension with the local authorities. You can find all relevant information on the website of the Embassy of Belgium in Helsinki.
Medical certificate
Due to the organisation of the Swedish Health care system, there are no doctors affiliated with the Embassy of Belgium in Stockholm.
The visa applicant can go to any doctor of their choice to have the medical certification filled out and signed.
The completed and signed medical certificate then needs to be legalized through the “Apostille” by a Swedish “Notarius publicus”.
Certificate of Conduct
A certificate attesting to the lack of any convictions for crimes or offences under common law needs to be ordered directly at the Swedish Police. Make sure to request the certificate in English.
For residents of Latvia
The Embassy of Belgium in Warsaw handles visa applications for residents in Latvia. You need a valid residence permit in Latvia to apply for a visa. If your residence permit has run out, you first need to apply for an extension with the local authorities. You can find all relevant information on the website of the Embassy of Belgium in Warsaw.
Medical certificate
The visa applicant can go to any doctor of their choice to have the medical certification filled out and signed. This certificate does not need to be legalized.
