Visa for Belgium
Information for visa applicants in Sweden
A visa is a sticker affixed in your passport by an Embassy or Consulate or at the border. It authorises the bearer to stay in or travel through one or more countries during a limited and specified period.
Applying for a visa to Belgium
Within the Schengen-zone, a valid passport with a valid Swedish residence permit (uppehållstillstånd) allows a short-term (less than 90 days) tourist visit to Belgium. It does not, however, allow a stay for work or study.
Please contact the Embassy of Belgium in Stockholm by mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) to request the list of documents that you need to submit.
Applications for work or study visas are to be made well in advance at the Belgian Embassy in Stockholm, which conducts the basic screening and centralizes all information.
Applications may be made by post, but only within Sweden.
The Embassy may want to interview the applicant personally in Stockholm.
All costs with regard to visa applications are at the applicant's expense.
Information regarding the payment of the visa fee will be given after the initial verification by the Belgian Embassy in Stockholm.
When the visa payment has been made and a proof of payment has been presented, the Embassy of Belgium in Stockholm sends the application documents to the Embassy of Belgium in Helsinki for central processing.
Upon a positive decision the passport with visa will be sent back to the applicant by registered mail or can be collected from the Embassy in Stockholm.
