Financial guarantee for students (Annex 32)

Information for guarantors willing to bear the costs for a non-EU student in Belgium.

Guarantor

A guarantor commits to pay any healthcare, housing, educational and repatriation expenses for a third-country national studying in Belgium for:

  • one academic year, or
  • the entire duration of the studies, or
  • one year after the graduation

by signing a document called ‘Annex 32'.

Other options exist for a student to prove sufficient means of subsistence when applying for a long term visa.

Conditions to be a guarantor

  1. Be at least 18 years old.
     
  2. Have Belgian nationality, or
    Be a citizen of the European Union, or
    Be a third-country national authorized to reside indefinitely in Sweden/Latvia, or
    Be a relative up to the third degree of the student.
     
  3. Earn a net income of minimum 2.966,28 euro/month.
  4. Sign the Annex 32 in person at the embassy of Belgium in Stockholm (upon invitation, after assessment).

Procedure

  • Send the documents below by email to stockholm@diplobel.fed.be or by post to
    Embassy of Belgium

  • The embassy will review the application within 2 weeks and will contact the guarantor by email in case of incomplete/incorrect documents.
    If the requirements are met, the guarantor will:
    • be invited to fill in and sign the document 'Annex 32' in person at the Embassy of Belgium in Stockholm. 
    • receive the digitally legalized 'Annex 32' by email within a few days after the appointment. It will also be available online on legalweb.diplomatie.be.

Passport copy of the guarantor (add your residence permit if you do not have Swedish nationality)

Proof of residence of the guarantor (Personbevis from Skatteverket)

Proof of admission by a Belgian school or university for the coming academic year (or diploma if the visa is required for one year after graduation)

Employee: recent employer’s attest proving that the work contract is still in effect, or
Self-employed: a proof of payment of social security contributions, or a proof of registration of your company

3 last pay slips

Tax resume for the last year (Besked beslut om årlig beskattning from Skatteverket)

Proof of payment of 224 SEK to the Swedish bank account of the Embassy: 394 816 188, clearing number 6106 (Handelsbanken).
Please mention the “name of the guarantor”.
